Today was suppose to be a productive day. I had plans to go into town and get my cellphone fixed. To go buy a bicycle. To find a nice little party dress for upcoming party nights. Instead, I stayed at home all day long. I've recently moved back into my fathers apartment in Munich, Germany after living for about 6 years in Colorado, USA.
Today was a nice day. The first sunny, warm day in weeks of rain and cloudiness. And I stayed most the time in my PJ's most of the day. Stupid Me. I missed out on so much. But today was a no-leave-apartment-day. Don't know why. It was just one of those days. So I decided, since I'm not leaving the apartment I should at least sit on my balcony as much as possible. I had all my meals (except for dinner) at the little round table that I placed outside. Dinner I had today in front of the TV sitting on the living room floor. They were showing Star Wars V in German.
Its ten minutes past midnight. Now its Saturday. I've decided to enjoy the night. So it was either go outside for a walk or sit on my balcony. Well as a Woman in a City, the second choice was probably the better one.
Young Adults my age and younger ones are on their ways to the clubs and bars celebrating the beginning of the weekend. Most likely getting drunk and sometimes even ending up in someone else's bed. I've decided to not go clubbing tonight.
My balcony is cold and very dark. I light up a candle and place it in the middle of the little round table. Its surprisingly quiet in this city. Many say Munich is not a City, but rather a collection of Villages. The village where my fathers apartment is located in, is idyllic and has a flair of vintage.
For the first time since i moved back to Munich, I can see the stars. They are not as visible and clear as the ones I can see from my house in Colorado, but they are still very beautiful. I can't see the Moon. But its light shines across the dark night sky and lightens up a few clouds which are passing by. Once in a while i can hear the trolley rolling through my neighborhood, passing my building, and proceeding its way to the East Train Station. I can also hear a couple of Cars following the road along the trolley's tracks. There is ONE little cricket somewhere sitting in that large tree of the back court yard. Its chirping away, maybe singing, or searching for a friend. But it really sounds more like some guy clipping their toe nails.
A neighbor's light just turned on. Their Kitchen light. It seems like their teenage son had just returned home and the parents give him a plate of their leftovers from dinner. They move away from the windows. The light got turned off.
A bunch of clouds have passed and I can see the stars again. Its getting a little colder. In one of the building across the conjoined courtyards, a light turned on and a child is crying. Or maybe its a cat meowing in the far distance. It stops. Now I hear classical music from that direction. It sounds familiar.
A few doors down of my building is a party in progress. Up until now they were playing Karaoke. Now all I can hear are the voices from several conversations. I can't hear what they are saying. The classic music stopped.
A little spider is crawling across the floor of my balcony. I wonder what that little fellow is doing tonight.
I lift up my feet and rest them on another chair across from me.
The voices from the Party are gently settling down. Its getting colder. The Vines on the walls of the house are making weird noises, as if water drops are falling onto their leaves. I look up. I can only see a few cumulus clouds, but no possible rain clouds. The vines creep me out. I've decided to go to bed and listen to my Beethoven album.
Tomorrow I swear i will be more productive and at least go to town to get my cell fixed.
I blow out the candle. The city is going to bed too.
I'm ready for tomorrow.
